The answers to one two and three are: Satin Nights, Nights in White Satin, and Secrets in Satin. As one can see, satin and its cousin, satin lace is borrowed to evoke provocative images into the book buying public’s mind.

Satin lace has achieved great popularity as a fabric of romantic symbolism. This probably has to do with how the fabric feels and how it is often used for bed sheets in romantic settings. It is no surprise that satin lace has been used by numerous authors of popular fiction books to establish a tone for a novel right off the bat by using satin in the title. Is this use of satin lace to catch a reader’s eye cheating? Of course it is. And there’s nothing wrong with that provided the novel actually turns out to be a good book!

Literature is all about images and the illumination of emotion by creating visual images. Satin and satin lace is effective symbols to evoke emotions of love, loss, pain, regret, and human personal and interpersonal relationships. It is no surprise that satin is tapped repeatedly to evoke this emotion considering its evocation of romance in people’s mind.

Although overuse of satin in a written work’s title has been overused far beyond the point of overkill, satin will continue to be utilized on hardcover jackets for years to come. It is an effective eye catcher.
